I already knew Madison was one of my “people” from our previous interactions (and their engagement session). What really sealed the deal however, was when we were trying to figure out a location for their formal session. She sent me a text, and it was of a bride and groom in a canoe. “Is this possible?” Little did she know that a few years earlier my husband and I had our anniversary photos done in a canoe, and I had the perfect spot in mind! “Heck yes it’s possible!” I immediately got so excited that I’d get to shoot canoe formals (cue the “Kiss the Girl” scene in Little Mermaid). I couldn’t wait for the date to arrive!

When I showed up to Ft. Buenaventura, it was a beautiful day. The day was starting to cool down. Madison was finishing getting into her dress. Cooper was nervously awaiting their first look. The two of them wanted a First Look captured. We Cooper had turn around to see Maddie, and he had the cutest expression! Cooper kept telling Madison how great she looked, and it was so cute!! We went about doing all the normal poses, and then it came time for the canoe!

If you’ve never been in a canoe, they are so dang wobbly! I was stressing when it came time for Madison to get in the boat (and basically the whole time the they were in there haha). There were a few specific poses I asked them to do, and I didn’t realize how hard it would be to maneuver them in the canoe! Canoe formals are not for the faint of heart, but luckily I have the best clients! They are always willing to do what it takes for a pretty picture! Everything worked out beautifully, and the wedding dress was perfectly preserved!
